France: Introduction of the EUID on Kbis Extracts to strengthen EU-wide company identification

Since 1 December 2025, all French Kbis extracts now include the EUID (European Unique Identifier), a single European identification number designed to harmonise company identification across the European Union.

This development, implemented in line with Directive 2012/17/EU on the interconnection of business registers, marks an important step towards more reliable and secure legal information for businesses and public authorities across EU Member States.

The EUID combines the country code, the national business register code and the company’s local registration number, ensuring clear and unique identification of each legal entity at European level.

In practice, it is now easier for companies and administrations to verify the legal status and structure of foreign entities and to manage cross-border administrative procedures.

For businesses, the change has several practical implications. It improves transparency, supports due-diligence and KYC processes, and helps reduce the risk of document fraud. As a result, the French Kbis extract becomes not only a key national legal document, but also an interoperable tool within the wider European framework.
